Regardless of your age or occupation you know that sometimes things can get a little bit too much, especially when stressing over comes on a daily basis. If life is getting rough and it makes you feel really tired, you just need to have a little bit of “me time”, to learn to make yourself feel better and recharge your batteries. So, here are few ways I choose to wind down.
1. Go for a walk!
When I’m having a stressful day taking a walk is the best thing to do in order to clear my mind. As I live in the countryside, I would recommend you, if it’s possible, to take a walk in the middle of nature, somewhere you can breathe fresh air, feel the breeze and just enjoy those few mindful minutes. There’s something amazing in taking a walk on that little tight path in the woods, hearing the birds singing and the wind blowing, and if that’s not possible because you live in a city, you can go and explore places you’ve never been to.
2. Write it all down!
I know it’s not a thing many people do, but it can be really helpful if you’re having issues in organizing your thoughts. Take a notebook and a pen and write it all down, what you feel, why you feel like it and what you can do in order to stop it from making your days a nightmare. And if you’re having a busy day, make a list of the things you have to do and once you finished doing them tick that little checkbox, it will make you feel more organised. If you find it difficult to write it all down, just draw something. Remember, you don’t have to be an artist or a good drawer, just do it to calm yourself down, in fact, you don’t have to show it to anyone, you can keep it as a “memory”.
3. PositiviTEA in a cup!
There are SO many types of tea, but if you want to have a good nights sleep, to feel a little bit more relaxed and calm I would suggest you to try peppermint tea (not only well-flavored, but it will relax your mind), lavender tea (reduces stress and anxiety) or chamomile tea (soothes nerves).
4. Read a book!
This might be a really obvious one, but reading can be the best way to wind down. It has been proved that reading for 6 minutes can be enough to reduce stress levels by more than two thirds! Not only it can reduce stress and calm you down, but it can stimulate your creativity too. I usually settle down with a cup of calming tea and a good book, switch off and relax. 5. Do more of what makes you happy!
When was the last time you did something that made you feel happy? Do it more often! Do anything that makes you happy. Do you like drawing, singing, playing games, taking pictures, writing? Do it! I, for example, love going outside with my camera and taking photos and even if they don’t turn out to be good, it was worth taking them because it made me happy!
STOP stressing, and START living. Take ONE thing at a time.
